Madison Schools Celebrates National School Lunch Week

Madison Schools celebrated National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from October 14-18. National School Lunch Week was created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to celebrate and child nutrition and the importance of a healthy lunch in a child’s life. Healthy meals impact every aspect of a child’s life, both in and out of the classroom.

The Madison Blue Streak cafeterias serve over 1,100 meals every day. This year’s theme is “SchoolLunch: What’s on Your Playlist?” The theme spotlights how our cafeterias are adding more unique items and customization to serve the meals that kids actually want to eat.

We’ve celebrated at lunch all week with special guest servers, exciting events, fun music, and creative student activities. We hope our students have had as much fun with NSLW as our staff. We also want to thank and recognize our amazing cafeteria staff who work so hard to create nutritious, yet delicious meals for our students.
