Pre-Apprenticeship Consortium Grant provides opportunities for students and staff

Madison

In November, Madison Local Schools was awarded a workforce development grant in collaboration with several other area schools. This grant will provide training that enables each school to begin their pre-apprentice program pilots during the 2022-23 school year. The program allows graduating seniors to earn pre-apprentice completion certificates. Meanwhile, ongoing training, coaching and technical support will help teams refine their plans and begin full implementation during the 2023-24 school year.

Madison High School will use its Career-Based Intervention classes and Project Lead the Way program to develop our pre-apprenticeship programs.

According to Superintendent Angela Smith, “This grant will take existing programming and provide additional real-world experience for Madison students. I’m excited about this opportunity as it will help to update our existing curriculum to provide valuable job training for our students.”

She continued by saying that these types of grants are invaluable to districts like Madison: “In a district with limited resources, opportunities like this provide up-to-date training for our staff, which can only help to enrich the classroom experiences for our students.”
